Bob Hurst joined PayPal in July 2016 as Global Head of Sanctions Compliance. In his role, Bob is responsible for designing and overseeing PayPal’s Global Sanctions Program, which includes our policy and guidelines, operations oversight and analytics program. He is also responsible for developing the company’s sanctions risk profile and enabling the people, process and technology to manage that risk.

Prior to joining PayPal, Bob was with BNP Paribas where he was the architect of the global sanctions risk assessment for Group Financial Security. In this capacity, he managed sanctions risk assessment operations including survey development and training. Bob also managed a data analytics team that developed the risk models to identify sanctions risk both internal and external to the firm.

Before joining BNP Paribas, Bob spent 8 years with JPMorgan Chase. He initially worked as an Operations Manager in JPMorgan’s USD Clearing business where he managed the unit’s client data and credit risk operations. During this time he developed a deep understanding of how payments are made between banks across the globe and also how money is moved within large financial institutions. From USD Clearing, Bob lead the Sanction Screening Analytics team whose mission was to ensure proper calibration of the firm’s sanction screening engines including list management, false positive management and algorithm testing. Bob was then selected to execute JPMorgan’s Global Sanctions Oversight and Governance function.

Bob earned his M.B.A. from University of Florida and B.S, in Management Information Systems from University of South Florida.
