Head of Compliance, Caribbean Banking, RBC Financial (Caribbean)
A national and resident of Trinidad and Tobago, Belinda James has been the Head of Compliance, Caribbean Banking, RBC Financial (Caribbean) Limited since June 2013. In this role, she leads a team that is responsible for the delivery of a full range of compliance-related activities to RBC Caribbean Banking, including developing and maintaining expertise in regulatory and AML/ATF compliance matters and facilitating opportunities for partnering on compliance efforts through consultation with Business Heads. Before joining Royal Bank, Belinda spent 14 years at Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited where she headed the Compliance and Legal Services Department.
Belinda is an attorney-at-law with 20 years experience and she holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (Upper Second Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, Trinidad. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, United Kingdom.
