Ms. Bethoney is Vice President of AML Operations with Promontory Risk Review, an IBM Company (PRR). In this role, Ms. Bethoney supports efforts to enhance the delivery of PRR’s AML and Sanctions business process solutions, drawing on her 10+ years’ experience in AML and financial crimes. She also provides strategic subject matter expertise in the pursuit and structuring of new business opportunities within PRR. Prior to her current role, Ms. Bethoney was a Vice President with State Street Corporation, managing and advising on investigations and developing strategic solutions to mitigate ML and financial crime (FC) risk.

Prior to her roles in the private sector, Ms. Bethoney spent 8+ years in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). She was a Senior Analyst and Advisor with the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI), where she drove U.S. policy and enforcement actions and supported U.S. officials and policymakers on ML and FC threats. Ms. Bethoney was the primary SME for the IC on Panamanian illicit finance and jurisdictional AML/FC deficiencies, particularly in the area of attorneys and other non-financial businesses and professions. She also served as Treasury’s first Intelligence Liaison and Senior Advisor to DEA’s Special Operations Division. There she spearheaded large-scale ML and FC investigations and intelligence collection initiatives, trained law enforcement agents and analysts, and promoted collaboration between TFI and U.S. and foreign law enforcement. Ms. Bethoney began her career in the IC covering Iranian illicit finance. She is an alumna of Bentley University (B.S. Economics) and Johns Hopkins University (M.A. Economics).
